Canada Leveraging innovative technologies to Sort Immigration Applications

Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) is expanding the use of advanced analytics to automate the sorting process of immigration applications.

The IRCC mentions on its website that it uses the new advanced analytics tool to expedite the process and not to make final decisions. The final approvals and refusals will always be within the immigration authorities’ scope.

The advanced analytics tool streamlines the regular applications to forward these to the relevant authorities for the final call. The automation tool leverages Machine Learning technology by using historical data from records.

There is a regular review procedure to examine the working of analytics tools according to the expectations. Canada plans to develop a virtual and fully integrated immigration system. The steps in this direction are boosting the number of temporary and permanent residents arriving in Canada.

Encouraging growth trends

Canada is witnessing the fastest quarterly growth in its population since including Newfoundland and Labrador in 1949, after the Second World War.

Canada aims to achieve ambitious immigration targets in its Immigration Levels Plan 2022-24. It plans to welcome 431,645 and 447,055, and 451,000 new permanent residents in 2022, 2023, and 2024 respectively.

The bulk of Canada’s population comprises immigrants. Canada expects to exceed immigration targets by considering the current growth trends.

The current year’s data confirms Canada welcomed 274,980 new permanent residents till July 2022. Using advanced analytics and adopting automation in the immigration process is boosting IRCC’s ability to handle large volumes of applications.
