Yukon (formerly Yukon Territory) is located on the North-Western side of Canada. It is distinguished by its mountains and high plateaus. The province is known for its abundant mineral wealth, and amazing wilderness spread over large areas. The sparse population of Yukon combined with the job opportunities available here makes it the ideal destination for potential immigrants.

Immigrants who want to move to Yukon can use the Yukon Provincial Nominee Program (Yukon PNP) to achieve their immigration goals. Yukon welcomed 310 immigrant families in 2019 through the Yukon PNP.

The Yukon Nominee Program (YNP) involves a number of immigration pathways designed to help foreign nationals become Canadian permanent residents. The Yukon Territory operates the following immigration streams:

  • Yukon Skilled Worker
  • Yukon Express Entry
  • Yukon Critical Impact Worker
  • Yukon Business Nominee
  • Yukon Community Pilot

Yukon Skilled Worker

This stream is for foreign nationals with the relevant skills and experience and a valid job offer from a local employer. If they satisfy the qualifying conditions, they can receive a provincial nomination. It allows the candidate to apply for Canadian permanent residence directly from the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship, Canada (IRCC).

Yukon Express Entry

The Yukon Express Entry stream is for applicants with an active Express Entry profile. You must also have a valid job offer from a provincial employer. This will make you eligible to apply for a provincial nomination from Yukon. The Yukon Express Entry is aligned with the Federal Express Entry immigration system. If your application is accepted, you can enjoy expedited processing of your immigration application.

Yukon Critical Impact Worker

This stream is for qualified workers with semi-skilled work experience. You must also show that you have a valid job offer from a Yukon employee to be considered for a provincial nomination. A provincial nomination from this stream will allow you to apply for Canadian permanent residence from IRCC.

Yukon Business Nominee

The Yukon Business Nominee stream offers a pathway to permanent residence for individuals who have business and entrepreneurial experience. You must also show an interest in owning and operating a business in the province. A minimum personal net worth of CAD 500,000 CAD is mandatory to qualify for the Yukon Business Nominee program. There are other qualifying requirements too.

Yukon Community Pilot

The Yukon Community Pilot (YCP) is an advanced and new version of the Yukon Nominee Program. This pilot was created to address the province’s unique economic and labor market needs. Those who qualify can get a two-year, location-restricted open work permit.

It is important to ensure that you follow the instructions and procedures correctly while applying for immigration to Yukon. Yukon PNP procedures are a bit complex. If the application is not prepared correctly, there is a high risk of refusal.
